Syrah 2016

A rare, cellar-aged Syrah showing beautiful complexity and evolved character.

Has been carefully cellared by Stu and beautifully aged, developing incredible complexity and tertiary characters. This museum wine showcases how great Yarra Valley Syrah can evolve with time.

Tasting Notes: Complex aromas of leather, tobacco, dark fruits, and forest floor. Full-bodied with silky tannins, evolved fruit, and a long, savoury finish.

Perfect Pairings: Reserve this for special occasions with premium cuts of beef, braised short ribs, or mature hard cheeses.

This wine has been securely cellared for you by Stu, ready to enjoy now at its peak.

Hand-picked Mix of destemmed and whole-bunch ferment 18–28 day fermentation 30% new oak, only 3000 bottles made Re-released at peak drinking 12.8% ABV

This Syrah opens with deep, dark fruit and those savoury notes that only come from time. There’s blackberry, cranberry, mint, spice, and hints of leather and smoke. On the palate it’s smooth, concentrated, and vibrant, with blue plum, gentle spice, and a touch of blood orange that keeps everything lifted.

Smells like:

Blackberry, cranberry, mint, violets, and warm savoury notes.

Tastes like:

Blue plum, spice, soft tannins, and a little blood orange for brightness.

The finish:

Long, silky, warming. Properly satisfying.

Drink window:

Drinking beautifully now, and won’t mind more time.

This wine shines with food — especially richer, slow-cooked dishes.

Goes well with:

  • Lamb tandoori

  • Roast beef

  • Slow-braised mushrooms

  • Charred veg

  • Hard cheeses

Why it works:

The savoury depth wraps around rich food, while the brightness keeps the palate fresh.
