The appearance is golden with green tinges.
The palate shows lemon balm, grapefruit and loads of citrus, which round
out white peach skin and floral notes. There is also wonderful licks of butterscotch.
The palate shows citrus flavours, white marshmallow, toasted almond and
fresh dill tones. Texture and flavour marry in harmony with acidity which
creates a long and mouthcoating finish.
Cellar for up to 10 years from vintage.
A recommended food match is roast pork with crackling, apple sauce and
golden, fluffy, crispy potatoes with pan-cooked greens.

It always seems like everyone has their favourite vintage and 2022 was our favourite. A cooler growing season leant into a cooler and later ripening season. Meaning beautiful flavour retention, structure with fresh acid. Due to a dry harvest time and lower yields concentration of flavour was immense. Also due to the cooler weather, the harvest was drawn out a little, which afforded us extra time in the winery to soak up the magic of vinatge and feather every single wine into the perfect spot.
A beautiful site for cool climate grape growing, the D’Aloisio vineyard sits at an elevation of 220 metres above sea level. The vines were planted in 1991 and the clone is I10V1. Soils are deep, friable red volcanic clay; providing trace minerals and adequate water retention for the vines. The Vineyard is meticulously cared for by the owner of the property.
The grapes were handpicked on 10th March once intense peach and grapefruit notes were present. The grapes were chilled overnight and the following day were wholebunch pressed with a pressings cut. The pressings were discarded and the remaining free-run component was not fined.
The juice was sent to seasoned large format oak (500L and 300L) for a wild fermentation. After fermentation, the wine barrels were topped and left alone where a natural malolactic fermentation occurred in situ. The wine was blended to tank in December 2022 and bottled in January 2023, without any filtration or fining.
